Both of our lifeboats were launched yesterday in response to reports of two swimmers entering the water and not seen returning to shore. The inshore lifeboat was launched initially at 3:25pm and began performing search patterns near where the swimmers were last seen. The all-weather lifeboat was launched shortly afterwards at 3:54pm to assist with the search. A search and rescue helicopter was also in attendance at the request of the Coastguard. Fortunately, it was then reported that the swimmers were found safe and well and both boats were stood down at 5:25pm. This was the first time that our new D-class lifeboat Ernie Wellings has responded to a shout.
